Misenga School's four new classrooms had stood for many months waiting for a roof. In our 2020 Christmas Appeal we asked specifically for donations to complete the buildings. Some very generous donors came forward and we are pleased to say that the construction work was completed a few months later.
Working with our partners in Zambia, Angela Nduba Zuze and Mizzy Mwangwina, Misenga's head teacher, who together sourced quotations from three contractors, we were able to approve the go-ahead of the works with little delay. By June the roofs were in place and the classrooms could be used, though they were not secure. In the following months MAC supplied windows and security doors to provide a safe learning environment for the students.
As a result, the number of pupils studying at the school has doubled.
